why or why not?
I keep wanting to buy a magen david necklace but idk if I should. I don't need a necklace or the expense. I can't decide if I want it because everyone on instagram is showing it, (I've never bought or worn anything from instagram) or because it's meaningful. it's pulling me. maybe it's just an excuse to buy jewelry.
any thoughts?

I personally don’t, I don’t see it as meaningful and the look of it is not necessarily fashionable for me

I wore one before I got married. Kept under my clothes b/c for some reason a magen david is a statement at work but a cross is not, but I knew I could pull it out if I ever wanted that statement to be made. Also if I ever ch"vs got hit by a car or something and didn't have ID on me, EMS would know to contact a rabbi. You can get one for like $10 on Amazon it's not that big a jewelry splurge!

Mine got lost somewhere in the move when I got married, I should go dig it up...

I did many years ago, but I was never big on jewelry in general and necklaces in particular. I gave mine away to various relatives and don't have any left. Given the current matzav, I would wear one only to a "safe" place like shul or a Jewish school or Jewish rally or a wedding, not alone in the street or on the subway. Why ask for trouble?

I have a very Jewish name, so no need to wear a label at work. My name makes my religious affiliation very clear.

No. It doesn’t have particular meaning to me. I’m proud to be a Jew but a star doesn’t represent Judaism for me.

No because I wear modest clothing and am easily identifiable as Jewish
But if I didn’t I’d probably want to wear one, these days

No because I'm very visibly jewish. Don't need to wear one to show that.

I'm a walking star of David. I mostly see the symbols on secular Jews who you wouldn't think were Jewish otherwise.

I’m just a walking star! Except I’m most often a sitting one.

Exercise your second amendment rights, and you can be a shooting star!

(I don't endorse or not endorse owning a gun, I just saw an opportunity for a good pun okay)

Yeah I pulled one out that I hadn't worn since I was a teenager. I was probably influenced by social media but I just needed to do something small to show support on a regular basis, and maybe just to be a small reminder. I work in a public school and I had several students who I didn't know were Jewish tell me that they liked my necklace and show me that they were wearing one too, and those were really nice moments of connection.

I'm wearing a Beit Hamikdash pendant, made by a local lady, with the words "אורו של עולם."

Here's some of Maayan's work on Instagram. Everything is Beit Hamikdash themed. Her rings are really beautiful
