Yes it’s that bad. A swing would be better. Or a bouncer. Or a Moses basket.

Not sure why a swing/bouncer would be better? I guess a swing is somewhat flatter? A bouncer is about the same angle, no?

I think the angle is the same but there's more space for the limbs to spread out. So the better of 2 evils.

OP how old is your baby? Makes a big difference if we're talking about a 2 month old who probably wants to feel cozy & can be swaddled, or an 8 month old who needs to adjust to a flatter surface and can't be swaddled anymore.

A car seat is meant to protect a baby in a crash and is therefore restrictive with space

A swing is meant to be more comfortable for babies and has much more space for them. It’s not just about the angle

A swing is also at a more flat angle then the doona. Any other car seat is at a more flat angle than a doona. A doona is very upright & not a good position for the baby.

Put baby on her belly on a mattress. Pat her tush until she falls asleep.
Sleeping in the car seat is really bad for development. Swaddling isn't as bad, but isn't good, either.
