when I googled it, I got a huge range, so I was wondering if I can get a more specific idea here of what grade level it would be on.

Thanks. Any suggestions for books (mystery or exciting) for a boy on a 4th grade reading level?

Boxcar is fine for 4th grade.

Unless they are advanced, like Harry Potter readers.

Woah. There’s something in between.

What about the Hardy boys?

I was reading Harry Potter in second grade (as they came out) and I still loved boxcar children

We read them in second or third grade. Can't remember since I had the same teacher for both years.

I think Boxcar kids and I survived are both around 2nd-3rd grade level.
Maybe Encyclopedia Brown? Haven't read them in a while, so I can't remember that well. My sons loved The Mysterious Benedict Society in 4th grade, but they're BH strong readers.
