I already have a glassware and different size bowls gemach. I would like to expand on this to have more items that will save money for people making a Simcha.

I like the idea of a proposal gemach providing items needed for a Chosson when he is about to propose to his Kallah but there is already one in our community.

What other original ideas are there? We have space in our house in a upstairs room so it can't be heavy or very big things.

Thank you.

Tablecloths
Flowers
Cakes/miniatures (people drop off unused or untouched cakes and you freeze them till the next Simcha)
Liquor (as above)

Centerpieces/vases for Shabbos?
I'm thinking about what they have in Rosenbaum's Gemach in Lakewood. It's pretty awesome, actually.

Chargers is an excellent idea.

What kind of silverware which would not be very expensive?
Also what kind of glass cups?
I haven't heard of besomim bags. What are they?

Thank you for all your ideas so far.

Not sure about silverware I know ppl who bought sets in Costco years ago and use for simchas. They have service for about 200.

Glass cups- drinking glasses. There are cool storage things you can get to make easy transport and hopefully less breaking.

Besomim bags are just small pouches of besomim to be used for havdalah so you for need to pass it around. I am making for my son's bar mitzvah with his info on it.

Other ideas: kiddush cards, kiddish cups, challah covers,

The little mesh bags with small portions of besamim inside, so when you have a large crowd for havdalah you can send those around and everyone can smell besamim right away instead of waiting for the one or two jars to make their way around to everyone.

I like the besomim bags idea but where do you buy besomim that really does smell of besomim? The besomim I buy either from a non jewish supermarket or from a jewish one doesn't give much of a smell.

Any other ideas?

I just buy whole cloves in regular Jewish store. Smells pretty strong or there is the other kids of besamim ....not sure what it's called....more like leaves I think ...we had one bottle for years. I already made for my son's bar mitzvah in 6 months but I put in tiny container. I used cloves.

I don't live in America so I know nothing about Rosenbaum's Gemach in Lakewood.

Do any American Ima's know more items that are available at the Gemach?

Thank you.

Costume jewellery sounds an excellent idea. What pieces do you think I would need to begin with?

Are evening purses not too costly and there is a huge choice so I won't be able to please everyone?

Never mind. Can't find it.
I'd have to ask a friend if she remembers the name...
I'm sure people here can figure it it better than me.

For gemach ideas, look here
https://lakewooddirectory.com/.....ook/1
Gemachim are around p 750 (type in page numberw. Alphabetical order, look for gemachim)
