It's been years since I was on youth corp and bh my kids are getting older and can apply soon!
Anyone know how it works these days??
Also, is it only in NY? Does NJ also have this program?

NYC only. Need to apply online, usually in spring. It's a lottery. Cojo of Flatbush knows when the application period opens.

Just curious, if it's only nyc, then Brooklyn day camps should be cheaper than Lakewood day camps!! These camps are raking it in, a lot of staff gets youth corp and whoever doesn't, gets paid peanuts, while parents are paying an arm and a leg and then in addition need to tip!!!!! This system is so messed up

Why do you say they get peanuts? Did your girls work? Mine did and they were really paid nicely + tips.

Your girls worked as counselors or assistants in Brooklyn yeshivishe day camps and got paid nicely without Youth Corps? It's a known fact that camps pay close to nothing to kids.

I'm in Williamsburg. That's the pay here. In addition they have night activities for the staff . ( swimming painting) they really had a great time.
