Most of my babies were natural paci suckers from the moment they were born. My first was taught to take one at 2 months old. You take a soft muslin cloth or any doudou your child likes mushing into. Your baby's head should be leaning into you with the paci and doudou in the same place.
I find it that it anchors the paci in place and they like mushing into it vs a paci on its own.
Hope this helps.

I would rock them in my arms and keep putting the paci back in. I’d gently keep my finger on it so they had room to push it out but it stayed on their lips. Eventually they just got used to it and would keep it in.

Yup, we never got ours to either and felt pretty desperate. But even though it's generally seen as good and potentially reduces sids, I've also heard of an increase in ear infections (maybe if parents are not washing them properly?)
Also, by the time they're six months, you're supposed to be reducing it, and taking it away, so it was hard for a few months and then it was fine and we didn't have to battle for weaning from a paci. Ironically this is the same child who has tons of teethers and loves putting stuff in her mouth.

There are 2 Ot’s who give a talk every week and they just answered this! Someone asked live. Reach out to see if they have a recording.

How old is your baby?
A very experienced feeding therapist told me that the mam pacifiers are the easiest for the baby to keep in their mouth. And the soothies are the hardest.
