Hi Imadoctors!
My toddler has been having loose mucousy stools for a couple days. I will take him to the doctor after Shabbos, but I'd also like to hear from experienced mothers what the possibilities might be.
Other than complaining of a stomach ache he has no other symptoms.
Can this be a virus that will pass in a few days?
What are other possibilities besides for allergies?
As a baby he used to get green mucousy stools when I ate dairy. I am wondering if maybe he could still be sensitive...
Last year he was constantly getting colds. I figured it was due to it being his first year in daycare... But school also serves lots of dairy I think...
How likely is it to be allergies?

My kids recently all had it .. I’m assuming it was either shigella or a virus

Thank you everyone! That is a huge relief to hear!
Can it be Shigella without a fever? Is that something to keep home from daycare for?
What is C diff?
Oh, vit C deficiency? How would I know? How likely is that?

clotridoides difficile colitis- it’s a bad infection of the colon. Often happens after strong antibiotics or exposure in a hospital.
He would probably have severe diarrhea and belly aches.

Yes shigella is super contagious, definitely keep home from daycare for loose stools . I had it with a fever but my kids and husband had without.

Shigella is very contagious. Do not send your child to school, and if you test positive, tell school nurse.
Just like we get a note sent home if a classmate has lice or strep, we get a note of a classmate has shigella.
