Cherry Squares from Rebbetzin Braunstein’s collection in the Bais Yaakov Cook Book

These are easy to make , and taste great. I’ve made them with cherry pie filling and I’ve also changed it up and did it with lemon pie filling .

11/2 Cups sugar
2 sticks margarine , room temp.
4 large eggs
2 Cups all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 20oz can cherry pie filling
Confectioners sugar optional

Preheat to 350

Cream sugar and margarine in bowl of mixer. Add eggs , flour, vanilla and beat well

Spread batter evenly on prepared cookies sheet . With a knife lightly mark 40 squares . Place one cherry with bit of sauce onto each square. Bake 40 minutes. Remove from oven and let cook about 5 minutes. Slice when still warm.

If desired , you make sprinkle cooled bars with confectionery sugar.

I changed it up and drizzled a white icing made from confectionary sugary , water, oil over the bars .

It’s good just with the pie filling too.

Thanks for reminding me about this recipe! I used white chocolate chips as the topping and looked really nice. I broke it into the shape of the half Graham cracker I think it looks neatest that way.

Buy pretty tart shells (bakers choice) fill with
1. cookie dip and top with a pecan.
2. Beat up a whip with instant vanilla pudding, top with fresh fruit and glaze with corn syrup
3. Mix a beat up whip with lemon pie filling, too with a piped whip star or a few blueberries.
