Should I be concerned that my 17 year old ds is always so tired all the time. He has been growing and this year he even started shaving and looking more man like. Is this from growing or should I take him for blood work?

Can be from anything, but bloodwork can’t hurt! Epstein Barr is very common, as is mono. Can also be anemia

What time does he go to sleep at night, and what time does he wake up? What about on weekends?

He goes to sleep at around 11. He can't get out of bed until after 8. He's chronically late. He comes home in the afternoon for lunch and lays down. He finishes school at 5:30 . He's too tired to go back for night seder. He's a good student otherwise. He recently went on a protein craze and does weight lifting. He's not into nosh . He's always telling me how tired he is.

I was that way until I discovered coffee. I could not live without it. otherwise I'd need 15 hours of sleep every day.

He used to drink coffee, but he said it made his heart beat too fast. So he stopped drinking it awhile ago.

I agree blood work can't hurt. Maybe he needs more vitamin D3?

you should get bloodwork to rule out low iron, thyroid issues, or anything else.
I find that when teens have a growth spurt they grow faster than they can absorb vitamins, and end up low on vitamins. give him a multivitamin.
also teens are notoriously needful of sleep. it could be just the stage.

I agree with checking thyroid and vitamin D. I had issues with both at different times and the #1 symptom was fatigue
#2 was regulating body temp. Is he always hot or cold?

My nephew had a similar situation. Bloodwork showed very low Vitamin D and presence of Lyme.

That doesn't sound normal to be. Please please take him to his pediatrician to rule out medical causes.

I think a trip to your pediatrician would definitely be a good first step.
