Hi all,

We are a unaffiliated chassidishe family looking to move to the Catskills full time. We are exploring the local options for schooling, but I'm also curious about options in Monsey as it's not far. I will probably have to drive there for work anyways unless I find a job nearby. 🙃

We are on the modern end of Chassidish. My son watches kosher/filtered TV (uncle moishy, nati and friends, etc.). I also drive and have a smartphone.

I know that schools in Monsey can be overcrowded at times, but my son is 2 and can be on a wait list for a few years. I'm currently homeschooling him. He's potty trained, goes to minyan a couple a times a week with his abba, and he knows his aleph beis.

Looking for a school with strong Judaics, okay ish English studies, and good athletics and or PE.

Any suggestions of places to research?

Thanks Ladies!

Monsey isn't that close, it can take a good 1.5 hours, depending on the timing & where you're coming from.
The only option I can think of in Monsey that fits your description, is Beer Yeshaya.

It's 1 hour from where we plan to move...so definitely doable.

Find out where other people in your prospective community send.

With traffic it can easily take way more than that. You need to factor that in.

Also factor in snow and rain. Can double your commute easily.

Certainly no worse than the commute from Elizabeth to Brooklyn. It used to take me 3 to 4 hours.
