When people on whatsapp respond with a quick emoji. The new feature on whatsapp that lets you reply a heart or a thumbs up. Or an lol face. I feel like it's overused a lot and people just use it to reply quickly.

It annoys me if I was expecting a real response. If it’s the type of text that just needs to be seen, like Buy lemons when you’re at the grocery, a thumbs up emoji is fine.

I have some chats where I use it specifically.
For instance in a work chat. Where it's about tasks that need to be done.
Whoever does the task just thumbs up that message and you know it's ticked off.

The quick reply ones are more recent. When I send someone a picture, I would like more than just a quick heart reply to it

When I simply send a pic on our family chat, I don’t mind when anyone answers with the quick emoji.
If I want a full on response I add a comment with the picture, which usually gets a reply back.
For example sending a pic of dd and writing “how do you all like her new dress?”

Not at all. Why do you think everything has to be answered with a long lecture? Emojis get the idea across instantly. But since you apparently love long-winded responses, I'll give you exactly what you want and regale you with a long, rambling, utterly pointless lecture. On WhatsApp, as on plain texting, you're essentially barging in on someone's life and interrupting whatever they're doing. You should be grateful they respond at all. Particularly if the message is sent to a group, it is not incumbent upon each individual to respond. Frankly, I hate some of the groups I'm on. Do I really need to read every family member's reaction to the latest picture of my latest grandchild or every student's response to a joke someone in the class posted? Not only do I not need to, I don't even want to. I'm wearing out my thumbs deleting all this electronic clutter. There, was this response long enough to make you happy?
