We just have a normal breakfast. I will have a glass of herbal tea and a fruit or two, and maybe an hour later after a few glasses of water, more fruit or a piece of cake. Dh will have a bowl of cereal, the kids will probably have cake and milk and toast and stuff on it...

mishie, split pea soup is a great idea. I was just trying to figure out what soup to make.
I made fetuccini alfredo last week, so I won't make it again now.

We have some split pea soup from last week, and whatever is left over from Seuda Shlishit. Easy. Maybe one son will make corn meal muffins, he likes to do that on a fast day.
Fruit soup
Salatim from Shabbat
Gefilte Fish
Majadra
Watermelon
Cheesecake.
In the freezer I have pizza and baked ziti if that is not enough for people.
What's not to like?

ALFREDO SAUCE FOR PASTA
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. light cream
1/2 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add cream and heat until mixture just starts to bubble. Stir in grated cheese, a little at a time, until it is all melted. Season to taste and reduce heat. Let sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, until desired thickness is reached. Served over any cooked pasta. Serves 2.

Well, you all are so lucky. After suggesting to DH last night that I will probably make fresh bread and split pea soup for after the fast, he told me that he will not be able to stand the smell of food cooking in the house while he is fasting.
Great.
So now we're stuck with leftover tuna and challah from Shabbos. And old (2 day old) apple cake. Yay.

The fast is over at 7:55 here. At 6:30 I'll be putting the pot of water up to boil for the pasta.
At 7:20, the salmon fillets are going to be put into the oven and I'll fry up the potato pierogies. At 7:45 the alfredo sauce will be made...
So the house won't smell of cooking food for all that long and for much of it, hubby will be in shul.

I don't feel well at all now -- I'm not up to making anything.
my kids had hotdogs and barekas.
my husband will probably stop at the bakery on his way home and I want now is a peak and then a bowl of ice cream..
if I eat too much after I fast I get sick anyway.

I was going to be a hero and make some fresh soup, but dh doesn't want, so we're going to have our usual break-the-fast meal: fresh(ly defrosted) bread and lox with raw onions. Usually I make an omelet too, but dh decided he wants the rest of the gefilte fish from Shabbos. I'm not arguing. I'll have the leftover chickpea salad and maybe the leftover lukshen-cheese kugel.
At least my appetite isn't being aroused by the thought of the post-fast meal.
