I’m a new mom to be and completely clueless. I live in Lakewood.
I got the uppabby cruz for free from my friend who used it for one child in a city. Seems like great condition. I dont have to use it but why not.
I need a car seat and also a stroller. Do I need a bassinet?
Ideally I dont want to get a doona.
Baby will not go to a babysitter for the first half year so I am not concerned about that aspect.
Should I get a car seat that will snap into the cruz frame? Or rather a different car seat and different frame?
How long are those infant car seats good for? Isnt it better to just get a car seat that converts from infant to baby to toddler?
Do I need a bassinet in Lakewood style living? (Seldom walking. Perhaps shabbos afternoon and perhaps spring/summer)
As you see I am clueless. Please help me understand what the basic needs are and what my options are.
Thank you!!

I am very happy with my Cruz and mesa car seat. It clicks right in with no adapter. I think uppababy just came out/is coming out with a new lighter version.
Look into the Nuna car seat- it had a very nice sunshade. But you will need to buy an adapter for it.

The Cruz is great. Probably makes sense to get a car seat that snaps into it.
I loved having a bassinet stroller because I took it everywhere and had the baby nap. To my parents, in-laws, simchos, and even just shopping.

I love the Cruz but it will take up your whole trunk. It's great for walking in the city and never folding. Bassinet for the first few months is amazing because they can sleep in it too.

Don't get a stroller yet. Get it when your more sure of what you want.
The car seat works for close to a year at least, but keep in mind it's not recommended for baby to be in there long.
Bassinet is also great (in addition to what the other said about napping on the go) if you have 2 floors, it's the downstairs crib or for napping if bubby doesn't have a crib.

Doesn't the cruz have a bassinet addition?
Might be worth it to buy the bassinet and a carseat that snaps into the cruz base,
I had a vista and used the base like a snap and go,
it was great because I had the smooth push and large basket which you'll have in the cruz as well, but it wasn't bulky because it was just the metal frame
