My daughter has put on a considerable amount of weight this year as a result of the meds she’s in to control a medical diagnosis.
Her stomach is so swollen she looks pregnant.
She’s 17 and is very uncomfortable with her body.
I need to buy her new clothing but I don’t feel like anything looks good.any suggestions for a teen that she might be able to carry well?

Edited to say I’m not in the US

Oy. This is so hard.
Please be gentle.
It’s hard on you but it’s really harder on her.
(I’m the mother of a few teen girls. It’s tough.

Maybe some swing dress styles.
Maybe swing dress with pleats.

Check out the brand current air. They have a lot of options to fit all kinds of bodies.

Not sure where you are located, but maybe you can go to go to a smaller store and see if someone there can help you

If you're located in the tri state area here are some ideas that are worth trying
D_rama (Flatbush)
My dream dress (Boro Park)
Beautifull (Monsey)
Faigys (Boro Park)
The address at American Dream mall, they have various brands that cater to larger body types such as impact fashion, mimumaxi, and some brands have extended sizes for some things like Byrd, Maya's place, ivee, etc.

Hatzlacha!

If you live in/near Lakewood there’s sorority.
Do you know what size she would be?

That wouldn’t work if she is short…

She’s probably a medium. But she started another med and seems to be gaining more …

Lots of sympathy for both of you. I went through this with my son and was definitely easier than a girl but still really stressful for both of us having to buy a whole new wardrobe in a short amount of time.
I paid a fortune in alterations which I never would have done but I felt it was necessary that he have things that look and feel as good as possible when he was going through a lot.

It's thin and shows all lumps and bumps.

Wow this must be so hard.
I have a stomach and I find that a thin belt works for me. Cinches the waist a little and makes me look not pregnant. Also buy a big size tights and have her pull it up the most possible. Helps with bulges.

SHEIN has a ton of plus size options. Check the return policy in your state, (in the US it’s free return) make a huge order with all kind of styles and see what works.
Skirts get local, nothing like a good quality skirt that fits well. Tops, blouses dresses and accessories get on shein.

I’ve never ordered from shein. It might be worth taking a look though.

Boxy style tops that hits at hips is best at hiding stomach. It’s very fashionable now. If it runs big size down for a slimmer look.

Get her good quality thin tees, tank tops, slip shorts and/or slips to wear under various types of clothing. It helps any clothes look smoother, and under semi-fitted clothing it helps conceal rolls and bumps without looking like she's wearing a bag.

Flattering clothing will make her feel better about herself then trendy cloths. If she has a pregnant looking belly please don't buy her clothes that really make her look like a pregnant woman. That includes pleats, and tops that are completely loose on the bottom or with a bottom rubber. Buy her clothing that would look.slenderizing on her. For an adult I would say black, for a teen summer clothing I would stick to busy patterns in medium or bright colors. Depends on her body layers of ruffles could work, swing type dresses could work. Ribbed clothing usualy cings. A busy top tucked out over a pencil skirt could work. Buy her beautiful, age appropriate accessories.

I would encourage you to call a shop and speak to a salesperson ahead of time. A lot of heartbreak can be avoided.
Second make sure she has good foundation garments.
Consider hiring a makeup artist to do her face for yom tov
Consider a lovely fresh haircut.
