We also did the doc band and were very happy with the results. It's Styrofoam and very open, baby did not mind at all. Just make sure to check for red patches during the half hour off. We put baby to sleep in just a onesie to keep cool. Oftentimes babies start sleeping on their stomachs during this time because it's more comfortable.
There's a very short timeframe that it works, the closer you get to 12 months, their skull growth slows. So if you're sure you want, definitely get it asap! It's not always covered by insurance, but if you have documented torticolis that didn't respond to other treatment, they might.
