I want to write out checks for my kids rebbim and teachers. But we are tight on money. (Like many people) . I feel like I have to give but really can't afford much. What is the MINIMUM amount that I can give to a rebbe that is respectable and acceptable. What is the least I can give that is ok?

In the same situation. Until what age do you give? Through high school? My son is in 11th grade.

I gave $100. I have no idea the norm honestly. I'm not really tight though bh but not sure why we have to give them so much money ....

You should not feel pressured and feel free not to give. This whole business is way out of hand

Just wondering when this started giving checks to rebbaim and teachers.
I was MO growing up and didn't go to teachers and no brothers so I didn't grow up with this concept.

OP, in what area do you live? Are you sure it's standard practice to give? Where I live (in Brookly) never heard if it as a parent or teacher

There were some years I didn’t even have the $18 to give and I wrote a very personal thank you note . Please don’t feel pressure.
