I used to have hair extensions and used to handling delicate hair before I got married

My Shaitels have straight hair so I usually wash myself gently and let it air dry on the wig stand, and brush it out softly as it dries

It seems to be ok, I do it both to save money and bc it’s just more convenient, it does take a long time to dry but I figured air drying is also healthier for the wig compared to heat, and this way I can just wash when I want to and not wait for my wig to come back

But I’m curious if getting wash and set really matters for keeping the wig in the best condition if I like how my wig air dries and I’m gentle.

I have lace front and now I am waiting for a lace top

For lace you should be washing pinned to a Sheitel head to avoid stretching it out. Other than that, as long as you’re gentle and make sure not to get conditioner on the lace (it can cause the knots to come undone and make your sheitl bald) there’s no reason you can’t wash it at home.

No if you're careful and let it air-dry
you're not ruining it!!

I wash my own sheital and it lasted almost 15 years so I don’t think it ruined it.
