Has anyone been there recently? What the pedestal like? Would it work for a family with kids ages 1-17? To leave from Jersey city. How much time do you need there?

We didn’t do the pedestal but fyi Ellis island is much more interesting than the statue so spend more time there.

Was there today
We went on the 12:00 ship and were back at the park (liberty state) at 4ish
It was exhausting, place was jam packed
Kids under 8 didn’t enjoy and were kvetchy
Just a heads up

I honestly wouldn’t take younger kids.
Try Governor’s Island as an alternative.
