DC woke up with a sore throat. No other symptoms, feeling & acting normally otherwise. I decided to take a throat culture just in case, and child has strep. Can they go to school tomorrow if they're feeling fine?

I’d give a dose tonight and then in the morning and send. My doctor says 12 hours on meds is fine to send.

I believe most lkwd dr do 12 hours. I live OOT and my dh is a dr (not pediatrician) and I once sent a kid to school after 12 hours and the school nurse yelled at me. Was actually funny, we culture our kids at home so after 2 doses the kid had a negative culture… I just learned not to say a word. Kid feels fine in the morn and tests negative they can go to school ..

Over 24 hours? Yes per my Los Angeles pediatrician.
12 hours sounds shady and desperate.

I know u prob didn’t mean it but u sound rude. Desperate, yes! We’re all trying to balance out jobs and busy schedules and lives and yes if a kid stays home from school sick it can throw everything off .. shady, no … if they dr OKed it then it’s fine. It became the standard in some places and that’s fine.

I'm not desperate, but child is. I just don't know what to do. I guess we'll see how the night goes & how they're feeling tomorrow morning. I'm always nervous to send a child back to school after they've been ill.
