so I make this really yummy crockpot whole chicken recipe and I wanna do it today for shabbos as well and I wanna stuff it w/ either couscous or rice pilaf (the near east boxes) should I put the rice/cuscous in raw or should I make it and then stuff it
heres the recipe for chicken if it makes a difference
crockpot whole chicken
Ingredients
4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 large roasting chicken (with pop-up timer if possible)
1 cup onions , chopped
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the spices.
Remove any giblets from chicken and clean chicken.
Rub spice mixture onto the chicken.
When ready to cook, put chopped onion in bottom of crock pot.
Add chicken.
No liquid is needed, the chicken will make it's own juices.
Cook on low 4-8 hours.

I've never done it so I don't have a good answer, but if I were going to experiment I would probably cook the rice ahead, but use less water so it was on the firmer side. Good luck!

I never make whole chicken, so I never make stuffing, but I would put the couscous in raw for sure because it cooks so quickly anyway. I'd also probably put the rice in raw because when you make chicken and rice with the rice on the bottom of the pan, it's put in raw.

I've done it raw... and it comes out like mush. I wouldn't do it again.
