Help I can't find my shabbos skirt. I'm absolutely absolutely sure I packed it. Honest!

AND WHO BORROWED MY HAIRBRUSH AND NEVER RETURNED IT?

Chester, have you heard from Harry...
Do your ears hang low...

My kids think I'm nuts when I sing them. LOL

Boom-boom ain't it great to be crazy...
They say that in camp, the food is mighty fine (as an adult, I learned that the original is "they say that in the Army, the _____ is mighty fine.").
now you tell me! I never knew that it came form an army song.

Yep. These are only a few verses.

ARTIST: Trad and Anon
TITLE: Gee, Mom, I Wanna Go Home
Lyrics and Chords

They say that in the Army
The girls are mighty fine
You ask for Betty Grable
They give you Frankenstein

/ G - / D - / D7 - / G - /

{Refrain, repeat between each verse}
Oh, I don't want no more of Army life
Gee mom, I wanna go home

/ C - G - / - D G - /

The biscuits in the Army
They say are mighty fine
One rolled off the table
And killed a pal of mine

They say that in the Army
The coffee's mighty fine
It looks like muddy water
And tastes like turpentine

The say that in the Army
The pay is mighty fine
They give you fifty dollars
And take back forty-nine

{Final refrain}
...Gee, mom, I wanna go
But they won't let me go [back to Ontario]
Gee, mom, I wanna go home

I thought every camp had a lake. I never went to a sleepaway camp that had a pool.

ah, the memories...
when we visited dd on visting day I was horrified how shabby and messy her camp looked. in my day we did super cleanup for parents' day, even more than our usual daily standard, which if memory serves was just this side of military neatness. I wonder if the place looked so shabby and messy to my folks?

Yes!

And the sign by the papertowels: Why take two, when one will do? I keep meaning to put one of those up at home. LOL

My mother used to sing this one to us. I wonder why she never sang that first verse. (She also didn't give us the right words to "I am a pretty little Dutch girl...") LOL Are you sure this is the right version, though? According to my mother,

The coffee in the Army
They say is mighty fine
It's good for cuts and bruises
And it tastes like iodine.

And in my mother's version it was a meatball that rolled off the table and killed a pal 'o' mine.

And did you know that Uncle Moishy has a takeoff of this song about Yerushalayim?
