If you call Israel home, do you keep 1 or 2 days Yom Tov?

The poll questions are responses I heard from people. Are there many others?

Walking the streets in Israel is always magical. You meet natives, those who made Israel their permanent home, those who live here long term without Aliya and Kollel couples etc. Also, people from around the world from many different backgrounds and countries.

Walking around on the second day Yom tov is so unique. Many people do their shopping and driving, while others are dressed in shabbos clothes and go to Yom Tov meals.

Hearing everyone's experiences is fascinating.
May we welcome Moshiach very soon.

Is option 1 for people who have made aliyah? It's a bit confusing.
I don't know anyone who lives here who keeps 2 days.
It's basically an aveira of bal tosif, from what I understand. If Israel is your home you keep one day.

The only people who keep 2 days are vacationers who don't own a home here or students.

This is only in touristy areas. I won't see anyone going to a Yom Tov meal today. It's life as usual today. Kids back in school and everyone at work, shopping and getting the house back in order.

The only people answering today will be those who keep one day.

Israel is my home, and I keep one day, as required by halacha.

I do remember as a seminary student it felt a bit like being a member of a secret society, living in a Yom Tov world while all around me was a workday world. It was fun, but I don't miss it.

Only in touristy areas are there a significant number of people celebrating 2 days of YT. It's business as usual for the rest of us. Esp since kids in public schools no longer have off on Isru Chag. Off to work now!

In neighborhoods like Ramat Eshkol, where many couples live there while the husband learns, many keep two days until they either move to America etc or decide that this is no longer their temporary home but where they really live. How and when that decision happens halachically is different for different people- for many, it is simply after a certain amount of time spent living in Israel. But for the first year or two, they will keep two days.

My shul always has hakafot shniyot on motzei Simchat Torah with a live band. (Not this year.) A few years ago a seminary girl came over and asked me if there was anywhere she could go to normal hakafot. I sent her to a shul which normally holds a second day minyan for tourists.

It's only in a few areas where there are lots of chutzniks. I haven't seen anyone who looks like they're keeping second day so far, but they probably aren't getting up at this time!

There definitely are people who don’t plan on living here long term (whatever that means according to their Rav-I’ve heard anywhere from 5-10 years, or even people who have any plans of moving back) whi keep two day.
Thing is the only people who can answer your pill right now, are those of us who keep one day!

I would never answer option 1. I keep 1 day since my permanent home is in Israel. But I also know it could change, there are (very unlikely) reasons to relocate to chu"l. In that case I'd keep 2 days.
Nothing connected to moshiach, though I'd want him to come quite soon.

Anyone that is keeping 2 days can’t answer this poll just yet.

I’m here on a visit and we keep one day when we visit because we try to come Shalosh Regalim. Can’t imagine anyone actually living in Israel would keep 2 days….!

I’m currently in Benai Brak I don’t see anyone in YT clothing. Back in the day when we kept 2 days everyone would stare at our yom Tov clothing completely confused.

I actually think the Chabad way makes most sense in this area. I’m not Chabad.

They hold if you are currently in Chutz”l you keep 2, if your in EY you keep 1, no matter where you usually live.

I live in Bnei Barak and we will be hosting soon some yeshiva boys who are learning here but live in Chul, so yes there are some people still in Yom Tov mode.

Isru Chag isn't a day off anymore for public schools? Baruch HaShem, it was about time!

1) I heard from people living here for many years, butbnever made Aliyah, that they keep 2 days because they plan to go back "one day". Their children are integrated in school system and culture. However, the parents "mind and heart" are in chutz lararz.

2)Yes, mostly in "English speaking" (mix) neighborhoods wherei lived when we first made Aliyah). Mainly those who see themselves as "chitznik" (outsider).

I meant that in the time of Bais Hamikdash and when it is rebuilt iyh there will be only one day Yom Tov for everyone.
