My son's upshernish is coming up, and I would love to get a headstart on all the baking. Can I decorate cupcakes and freeze them? Any tips - thanks!

The local grocery store freezes cupcakes with frosting. They look great (no idea of the effect on taste). I'm also not sure what type of frosting it exactly. (ie. regular, "buttercream", etc.) They only make cupcakes dairy (not parve), so I've not tried them.

Thanks! I'm sure they taste fine, I just want to make sure the frosting will hold right. Unfortunately it is not realistic for me to make them the day of (or the day before), so I hope this will work.

You can, if you're decorating with all one colour icing. I find "buttercream" (even the pareve version) colours run when they defrost (condensation). But if they're a solid colour you should be fine.

I'm not sure which frosting to use yet. Any ideas for cute ways to decorate upshernish cupcakes?
