Does anyone know if elective cosmetic sugery is kosher or does it equal defacing one's body?

Depends, AYLOR.
I remember learning about this in a class I had in seminary called Contemporary Halachic Issues, and I remember there were different aspects taken into account, and one of them was if someone was a female and looking to get married, then it was considered a halachiclly significant consideration.
I think many poskim do it allow it, and I know many people that have had plastic surgery, but again, it might depend on what you mean by plastic surgery and it might depend on your hashkafic leanings, so speak to your rav.

I know at least two people who have had a nose job done, one was for medical reasons, so as above, as your Rav.
