I have an entire Challah left over from Shabbos, and it's a size large!
I don't like sweet kugels. Does anyone have a salty/savory Challah Kugel recipe?

my family (especially my son - he always asks me to make it) really likes this savory challah kugel that I make. I am pretty sure that my sister thought up the recipe years ago.

Pardon that it is not really a measured recipe.

You can shred or rip the challah or grind in the food processor
add grated onion (I use 3-4 onions for a big challah)
add ground pepper to taste and a lot of poppy seed (a few spoonsful)
I don't put in salt because of BP, but you can if you wish.

I add eggs, about three, and pour in a bit of oil, say about 1or 2 T depending on how rich you like it. Then I add hot (no need for boiling) water to moisten it till it is mushy.
Spoon into a well greased pan (I pour in some oil to lightly cover the bottom, spoon in the mixture, smooth the top with a spoon and drizzle another T of oil on top and spread it over for brown crust.
Bake 350 or 375 for at least an hour till nice and brown on top.
Let me know how it comes out
Enjoy!

Changing the subject slightly, I just put up my Challah & I have a freezer full (and I mean a FREEZER FULL!) of yukky looking old stuff. I need a sweet challah kugel recipe (I'm also going to try ImaShel's recipe, sounds really good!) which will make a nice change for my big family Shabbos. Anyone? TIA!

Thank you shoy18 and ImaShel!
The kugel came out delicious! I used a combination of both your recipes.
