This Shabbos we are having company during the day. Usually I invite for the night, so I think it's been a while since I had day company.
Anyways, aside from cholent, we always eat cold during the day and never thought twice about it. Does that work for company? Do people usually not like cold food? Menu below. What does everyone usually serve? I do not own a plata and have never discussed with my husband how he feels halachically about it - I've seen people put food on top of an overturned pan on top of the plata. K'daira al gabai k'daira.
Proposed menu:
-Challah
-Gefilta Fish in muffin form w/ tomato sauce on top
-salad, pickles, homemade chumus
-Cholent
-Shnitzel and spiced cutlets
-Apple kugel muffins and/or cranberry cobbler
-Green beans w/ sauteed onions and mushrooms
-Tri-colored pasta salad (or orzo w/ onions and mixed veggies?)
-Fruit, popcorn, cake
Do the chicken and veggies go cold?

If you take out most of these things in the morning, they'll be room temperature.
(I'd go for the tri-colored pasta salad which is very good cold vs the orzo which is so-so in my opinion.)

There are some foods that go nicely served cold or room temp.
Cold cuts, even sliced poached chicken breast is nice. Or chicken salad or poached salmon.
Ditto for potato salad.
Just be careful with things that has mayo and don't leave it out till you'r back home.
Personally I'd rather have my kugels warm.
