I need to be careful with what I eat, but really would love to have some hamantashen.
Does anyne have a marg - free, lower sugar, whole wheat (at least mostly)recipe that actually comes out tasting good? Is such a thing possible?
I would so-so-so appreciate it.

The recipe from cookie lady that is popular from this site is marg-free. It's very good. I put in less sugar (you can dust lightly with powdered sugar to compensate for the taste), and I used almost 50% whole wheat flour. You can experiment with a small batch to see how it comes out when you use more.

I'm using sugar-free jelly for the filling.

Use white whole wheat flour and then you don't have to blend with any white flour.

Thanks everyone.
CL - where is that lowfat recipe?
Has anyone actually tried the popular recipe wth more than 50% WW?
I have 1-1/2 kilo of regular WW flour to use before Pesach, so I can't buy the finer kind. I guess next time I will think more ahead.

Yes, I made the "Excellent" recipe today using 100% white whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup of sugar, instead of one full cup. They are pretty good. I meant to use sugar-free jam, too, but dh bought the wrong brand. Oh,well...
I am not sure how they would be with regular whole wheat flour, but I could try it. Maybe only make part of the recipe to try it out.

I didn't mean that "I could" try it. I meant "I would" try it. Meaning, you should try it. I hope you aren't expecting me to make more hamantashen!
