I tired using both.
I liked the mylicon much better for a few reasons. the gripe water smells like black licorice, (which I hate) its sticky and makes a mess. you have to give a much larger amount - harder for the baby to swallow. and last but not least I found that the mylicon worked much better and much quicker relief!

Gripe water all the way - Wellements brand.
FYI my doctor said mylicon is baby specific and works for some babies and not others so you have to try each baby.

mylicon did nothing for my last baby, but I think the gripe water calmed him down a bit. gosh, those days are such a blur!
