its Elul and I havnt had much time to go to any shiurim or listen to any cd's- does anyone have a short sweet dvar torah or something that you can post so we can all have something in our day that is spiritual. lets try to keep it to one paragraph or less so its easy to read.

or maybe - does someone have a nice link to "a lesson a day" that we can walk away from here reading and try to work on that middah that day???

my husband just came home and told me something nice-

all the nasiyim of each shevet brought the same gifts to the mishkan. why?

because even though each one had their own strengths and their own way of serving Hashem they were afraid of causing fights and jealously between the shvatim. therefore they agreed to all bring the same gifts so noone would be able to brag or compare what their shevet brought to another shevet.

maybe we can all work on not comparing ourselves to eachother as well since its elul and all

After being on this forum for almost a year, I have recently been thinking that being exposed to people all over the world is very beneficial. I have really learned a lot of things that I didn't know enough about, and I learned not to be so judgmental and critical. (although it is hard to change character traits, it can happen)
I am still working on myself, but enjoy being here because I am not able to make a judgment on anyone based on their looks, background or mode of dress.
So while I would hardly ever speak to a stranger (even a Jewish one) on the street, here I am conversing with people of all types. I am open to their suggestions, without seeing or knowing any of them.
The forum has been very helpful to me in many ways, and I am sure it will be helpful in the future.
So to sum up, I would just like to say Thank You. To all of you, even the bashers.
Just as we judge others favorably, hopefully we too will be judged favorably.
