I've never baked Challah before embarrassed and I have a few questions...

You need to use 5 pounds of flour to do Hafrashas Challah?

In Israel, how many kilos of flour do I need?

Do I need a special kind of four or regular white or whole wheat works?

How many Challahs should I get out of a batch?

Can I make a whole batch in my Bosch?

What Bosch attachments would I use?

Anything else I should know?

Ask your rav.

We hold without a bracha from around 1.2kg (don't remember exactly), with a bracha there are opinions around 1.5, 1.6 (R'Chaim Naeh) and around 2.2 (Chazon Ish). CYLOR for exact amounts.

Good luck finding special flour here Wink Regular works great.

How long is a piece of string? How large are your challas?

Your Bosch should be able to deal with five pounds of flour. I just did three kilo (6.6lbs) in mine, though the dough was soft, I wouldn't do that much at once if the dough wasn't on the wet side.

I generally use 2.5kilo, which is just over 5lbs, make a bracha and make it into 6 challot. The same size batch my MIL makes into 8 challot.

Minimum, I don't know, but 2 kilo is over the minimum.

We use regular white flour or 70% whole wheat. I haven't seen bread flour here and my health food store doesn't even have wheat gluten.

Jumping on here too well as following several Challah threads, hoping for a quiet bracha from someone that I am able to do this too. It has been at least 20 years since I made Challah and I very much want to do this now. Partly because of a commitment I made on facebook to make it in memory of special people and it means a lot to our family this year much in thanks to imamother.
CeeWhyGee wishing you good luck with your Challah and much happiness.
Thank you, back to Challah making, taking and baking. Wink

I use bread flour all the time. It's put out by Steibel. They have all sorts of specialty flours, which come in 1 kg bags.
