my 2 year old ds started developing a rash on his legs a week ago, and it slowly spread to cover both legs, feet, arms and hands. now it's on his cheeks. he has no fever, or other symptoms. it itches him a lot. I took him to his pediatrician who said it was an allergy, which I really didn't think it was. he hasn't eaten anything new lately. yesterday I took him to a skin dr. who said it's probably the result of a virus. she sent me to do blood work to test for lots of viruses he could have. I took him to get it done, and the nurse said she couldn't do it bec. it would be too hard for her to find his vein, and I have to go to a dr. who could take the responsibility to find it, and it'll probably be a trauma for him. at this point, I don't want to do the blood test.
I'm happy to wait out the rash. I know it's nothing dangerous, so why should I put him through the hassle and pain?? has anyone ever had something like this with their baby?
thanks!

was he on any meds? could be a side affect - my daughter did that from amoxicillan
I would try harder to figure it out so you don't have to deal with it again

op here. it's not an allergy in the end. the dr. said it's a symptom of a virus he might have had anytime in the past month. she sent me to do blood work to check his blood count, and check for viruses like cmv.
I was just curious if anyone has ever experienced such a thing with their child. I don't know if the dr. is being overly cautious having me do bloodwork. I don't think I would treat his rash any differently if I knew what caused it. I'm not sure if it's worth it to do the blood test or not.
