I'd rather have the eggshell (it's happened to me before). At least it's food. But of course, I'd look for something else altogether.

sorry that you don't like the poll. it's not made up; you should know that I often get dirt from my greens or peel from my eggs. that's my lunch, on a daily basis.
just wondering what others thought.
amother, if you have something more interesting to poll, so do it! but I don't think you should insult others who are trying to liven this place up.

SaraG, don't you rinse off the dirt when you're checking for bugs?
For the record, I'd rather have dirt than eggshell. I'm cringing at the thought.

finding egg shells is my worst nightmare..in fact I usually don't eat anyone elses eggs..unless I washed them myself!

I hardly wash anything, but even so, last time I takeh DID wash, all thedirt didn't come off.

Both of these makes my skin crawl.
Why don't you wash your lettuce? Soaking and checking lettuce is pretty standard kashrus - isn't it? Do you buy the prewashed prechecked lettuce?
When I was in sem in Israel they always served us the type thats grown in sand and is supposed to be bug free. Problem was, it was never sand free. I skipped lettuce for a whole year.
