Can someone tell me how exactly Hatovas chalom works?
Do you have to have 3 people? Is there something special that is said?
Are you supposed to never mention it again etc.
And why exactly it's done?
Someone asked me this question and I don't really know the answer.
TIA!

Isn't this only if the dream occurs more than once?

I have done it a few times, for terribly horrible dreams. you need three men, and there is soemthing to say- a responsive thing.
I dont know about not talking about it after, but I assume (at least this is how it was with me) that you wouldnt want to talk about such a dream. I never told anyone what my dreams were.

also, I dont know why its done, but I know its not done by everyone. for example, my husband does not hold of it, and I have not done it since I got married, although there have been a few times that I really wanted to.

I heard that one can go to shul - on any day - and say the Ribbono shel Olam that is said during Birchas Kohanim, while the chazan says the three-fold brochah (Yevarechecha, Ya'er, Yiso...) during the repetition of Shemoneh Esrai, (after modim). This was told to someone in my family by a Rav.
