I received an email today that was obviously mistakenly sent to me. One of my superiors was asking another superior if he thinks I am capable of receiving a new task in my job. (kind of a promotion) I assume that because he was thinking about me he typed in my email address by mistake.
I didn't know I was even in his head to be considered for this and almost wish I hadn't find out.
My problem is basically what to do, should send it back to him and inform him of this mistake so he can send it to the right email address (which is quite awkward for him to know that I got this email) or do nothing and hope that he will email him again?

If it's a project/promotion you would like then you should email your boss back saying you accidently got the email and are honored that he would consider you and you would love to take advantage of the opportunity... yadda yadda.
