Well I was all emotional on my sons first day of kindergarten this week. I really feel like he is a big boy now. They even read teh story of the gingerbread man...ah such fine memories...it's such a big event in their life.

I think that's very normal and expected.
Perhaps b/c I worked full time and my kids were already in a playgroup, that's why it didn't affect me as much.

My daughter is in EC-4 and my son went to preschool but there is something a whole lot bigger in kindergarten...he was so proud in his uniform and that he doesn't have to take a nap.

Lub - I was quite teary eyed last yr when DS started kindergarten (or Pre1A as it's called here). Never got like that the years before when he was in Pre school. I think it was the sight of him being in a class with a Rebbe, sitting in a desk, looking so grown up, & I was upset that he wasn't put with his friends which turned out fine in the end.
