I know many grown men (including an 80 something year old) who are called Eddie. Hardly anyone uses Edward.

Well, for one thing, Ezra *is* a Hebrew name, so it's not really picking an English name. Also, one of my sons is Ezra (Hebrew and English), and you'd be surprised how many people can still get it wrong. For one thing, people assume it's a girl's name. Then people want to say "Erza." Which is just weird, since I live in the "Bible belt," and you'd think people would know the name Ezra!
Ezriel is a very beautiful name, and I honestly don't think it's so hard to pronounce that you really need an English name to go with it. Do you have to choose one, or can you just use Ezriel?

My son is Ezriel & in English it's Ira. Some of his friends call him Eddie.
If I had to do it again I would just give Ezriel.
