There was someone in my Baltimore frum moms facebook group who posted a photo of the most delicious chocolate babka in the world, and I was sure I would win it by liking and sharing it.

Unfortunately I didn't win:(

So now I need an easy, foolproof chocolate babka recipe, please. I don't mind if the dough has to rise for a long time, but it can't have too many complex steps or I'll mess up!

TIA!!!

Is this a real gooey, chocolatey recipe?

It all depends on how much filling you make.

How much is a 'package' of vanilla sugar? And if I only want to make one cake, do I divide this recipe by 8?

I usually use the book, and don't have it on me now but I think a pack of vanilla sugar is 1 T.

I usually make the whole thing (so I can take challah) and then divide it into 8. I form the cakes, and freeze the ones I want for later and only bake the ones I want right then. Or you can divide the dough and put the sections (cakes unformed) into the freezer and put the filling in on the day you want to bake the cake.

Thank you for this. I made a quarter of the recipe, with some modifications (oil instead of marge, whole eggs instead of yolks). It made a big, fat roll. Easier, quicker AND tastier than any yeast cake recipe I've ever made! Thanks again!

I did this, but made it into two rolls-we loved it!
