Just reiterating what someone else said. don't rule out the two girls schools (BY, Bnos Malka) because they are excellent and good choices. For boys I would recommend YCQ or Har Torah. Also, certain parts of Queens that weren't so before, have gotten very yeshivish so you may want to check that out before deciding on an area.
