Hi!
So I was thinking of making a fruit soup for an appetizer when we have guests this shavuos. But, then I thought - normally I put out dips on the table in case people don't like the appetizer being served. With fruit soup on the table, is it weird/gross to have dips on the table too? Thoughts?

maybe something like pita chips sprinkled with a little cinnamon sugar and a greek yogurt dip. or a salad that has fruit in it...like spinach/strawberry salad with vinagrette...to keep the flavors similar. I wouldnt put oyt, say olive dip or pickles with fruit soup, but something on the sweet (yet not heavy side) would go nicely.

Depends on how you serve the soup--if you have them already on the plate when the guests come, then no need to serve dips (because there's no place to put them). But if you only have plates and no soup bowls then you can leave dishes of olives, pickles, dips when you set the table, and let the guests have them with challot before you bring out the soup.

I would skip the dips entirely. Have cut up melon on hand to offer those who do not enjoy fruit soup.

I was also thinking you could offer a choice...fruit soup or half a grape fruit as the appetizer. fruit soup sounds delicious by the way

I think crudités with ranch dip, guacamole, etc. would work in middle of the table.
