I didn't mean to write time period even though it's olden days more like a science ficton/fantasy since merlin is a wizard

Netflix has the really good BBC Poirot series. Also: Drop Dead Diva, The Office, Lie to Me.

Anon b/c a few of my friends are on here and I don't want them to know I watch some "guilty pleasures". Smile

Another drop dead diva fan here. Although I think they really screwed up the last season.

Oh, and Masterchef Australia, I highly recommend.

Don't bother with the US one, in my opinion.

Where can I watch this?

Everybody Loves Raymond is a great sitcom and there are like 10 seasons so lots of episodes to watch.
I really enjoy Parks and Recreation.

Even if you don't like science fiction, give Babylon 5 a try. It's very character driven, and no so much into space fights and stuff. You'll fall in love, hate the bad guys, cry, laugh, and be on the edge of your seat the whole time.

BBC and Canadian TV are awesome. I adore "Made in Canada". It's so funny, smartly written, and sharp as a knife. Beware, you may pee your pants laughing! There's a whole world of English language shows that aren't American, and most of them are extremely well made (and not as crass).

Side note, I have been a BBC addict since I was a child. If I hadn't watched all of those shows, I wouldn't have a clue what my British DH was saying!

It really doesn't get much better. I keep going back because I want to see an end but there is no end. Just more and more drama. But way too much of it.

Drop dead diva is really cute I like it.

I think people are posting great shows but necessarily taking into account your preferences.

I second How I Met Your Mother and Mad Men for you.

not really period but you might like sherlock. Really well done. Modern take on sherlock holmes.

What about upstairs downstairs? never watched it but similar concept to downton abbey.

there are tons of bbc period dramas.

Fawlty towers is funny and period. (60s/70s)
