The Midwife of Venice by Roberta Rich is one of my new favorite books. There is a sequel that I have not read yet. It's historical Jewish fiction - and it's got mystery, family, and romance. Additionally, it's not raunchy or got scenes that you'd be embarrassed to read aloud! http://robertarich.com

But overall fantastic reading!

Thank you! I had read the first one and loved it. Just today I was trying to come up with something to read on vacation next week. I just ordered it from the library.

Ok, I finished the sequel, The Harem Midwife. It was really good, full of amazing detail, in some ways even more interesting than the first book. The ending felt kinda rushed, though.

If by "Jewish book" you mean has a frum publisher, then no. I'm pretty sure the author is Jewish, though, and doesn't denigrate (in fact uplifts) Torah and Yiddishkeit.
