I didn't see anyone mention this option, so I'll suggest it. Let your DH change the post-bris diapers.

I really have a hard time changing diapers after a bris, so my DH does it. I think it's a great way to keep Dad involved.

That sounds nice, but many husbands are not hanging around waiting to change diapers every two hours Smile Although certainly when he is available it seems like a good idea.

It's in reality not sucha big deal, just put bacitracin on a gauze, put it on the wound, and then puton the diaper.

With going away, my brissin were either yom Tov or late. So I did all 4 diaper duties. No big deal at all. One mohel even told me to just squirt the a & d right into the bris. No gauze. And of course only sponge bathing.

When I peeked a little into the diaper before changing it (first one after the bris), I burst out crying and ran to my neighbor who had 7 boys ka"h and asked her if she would do the first one. After that I was okay. Used lots of cream and gauze and after a couple of days it was already looking much better. (For the first couple of days, whenever he urinated it made him cry with a high-pitched distress sound that made my heart break.)

LET THE MOHEL CHANGE THE FIRST DIAPER,
EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO WAKE THE BABY UP.
I can't stress this enough.
after the first change its not that bad.
Gently change the gauze.
I agree that it's much easier than a squirming toddler, by far.
