I work full time in the education field. I also enjoy graphics and keep on wanting to take a graphics course. but I only want to take a course if I can use it to make some money- and then maybe doing it full time. but do you think the frum community in nyc needs more graphic artists? is there a market for it? or is it flooded....???

There are definitely design jobs that open up. Can't tell you if they're jobs that can bring on enough money to support a family.

1. You don't have to limit yourself to the frum community.
2. You don't have to limit yourself to NYC.
It doesn't matter if there are thousands of graphic artists around town. What matters most is that you develop a cutting style that differentiates you as a designer. Work hard on a portfolio and use social media to promote yourself. Invest time in taking more classes and picking up and refreshing your skills.
(This is if you want to freelance. You will be more limited if you take a position as a graphic designer for a company, although that is also a good idea in terms of gaining experience.)
