I desperately need ideas on how to entertain my child each day. School ends at 1 here and my child is rather bored each day.
any ideas (aside from play dates which I do)?
It would be helpful to hear what toys are enjoyed at that age... tried the magnatiles and lego.
thanks

Organized arts and crafts. Make a painting day, a cutting and pasting day, playdough day, baking day. Focus on the upcoming holiday for a theme, and this way you can decorate the house with his masterpieces.

Print out hidden object papers for your child to solve and color. Go to Highlights.com for those.

Mine does a lot of coloring, often extended by cutting/gluing/glittering etc.

Pretend play, girls this age like dollhouses and such while boys might be more interested in a fire station/ambulance/police type setup.

Definitely having other kids involved helps a lot. Everything is less boring that way, for better or worse.

Helping with chores/errands takes some time. Shmoozing while you do it.

How about some dress up clothes? I bought costumes and ball gowns at thrift stores and kept them in a chest for my DD to have fun with at that age. She would have tea parties with her dolls and we would all engage in imaginative play.

play dough sounds awesome, painting, going on errands with you, grocery shopping, stopping by the park for a bit, bike riding, scootering, while you make supper let the child listen to jewish tapes on the parsha, alef beis, brochos, T'nach stories; bath time & bed.
maybe even simple reading books, library....
