I created a WordPress website. The links work fine on WordPress, (specifically: www.kinderbargain.wordpress.com) but when you click on my domain name (www.kinderbargain.com)) then not all the links work. I am beyond puzzled why this is so.

Please Imamother techies, if anyone knows what I can do to fix this, I beg of you, please, please help me.

Thank you.

Are you simply logging into your domain and setting it to redirect to the WordPress site?

Since you say that not all the links work, giving us an example of one link that works and another that doesn't might help.

Twinsmommy, yes. The domain name redirects to the WordPress site.

Imasoftov, if you click on any of the baby boy stretchies links in www.kinderbargain.com, it goes nowhere, seems to be stalled. But it works when you click it directly in the WordPress site. Some of the other links also have this problem.

I am stumped.

You have probably spent a lot of time looking at your own site and what you mean by "the baby boy strechies links" is obvious to you. And if we were in the same room, you could point to one. But the word "stretchie" does not appear on your site so I don't know what link you mean.

But I decided to hit the first link for a baby boy, "ABSORBA Baby-Boys Newborn B Bow Tie and Suspenders Footed Pant Set". On both www.kinderbargain.com and on kinderbargain.wordpress.com, opening the link in a new tab works. But a simple click doesn't do anything on www.kinderbargain.com

So I looked at the link. They are slightly different, but they are full of stuff I don't understand, so maybe someone who understands Wordpress or maybe the tracking info that Amazon uses can figure out what is going on

Imasoftov, thank you! That is precisely what I am talking about. I cannot fathom why the link would change Confused

I clicked on some image links on your site, and they appear to work. Your links appear to be affiliate links to products on Amazon, Macy's and such.

In addition, I noticed that you are simply embedding your wordpress site as a frame inside your non-wordpress url link.
Maybe that's what you want, but I thought I would confirm. There are other ways of re-directing your non-wordpress link to your wordpress site, such as Cname and A records, or a URL redirect.

Anyway, I suppose your website is working now to your satisfaction. Kol HaKavod!

No Tzniutfashion, it is not working how it is supposed to. The WordPress site is working fine. The Domain page is not.
I thought I was doing a URL redirect with my domain name to my WordPress site.
I think now I am more confused than ever embarrassed

I don't think links within the site should change if you're just doing a redirect. I have redirects on two of my sites with no problems.

I have domain A redirected to site B. When I type A, site B shows up with site B's URL showing. That's not what yours does. If I type kinderbargain.com , the url doesn't change to kinderbargain.wordpress.com -- it remains kinderbargain.com

So.... walk us through how you did the redirect. Are you with go daddy by any chance? I could help you there but I'm not as familiar with the other platforms.

Maybe you send your code to Wordpress or tech support at your hosting company and they'll help you

I think I'm understanding you now.

The reason you are not seeing the links change on the URL bar of your browser, is because you are embedding your wordpress site inside your non-wordpress link, via an iframe.

The way it is set up now, the non-wordpress url is not redirecting to your wordpress site technically speaking, but simply enclosing it within an HTML iframe. That's what I was explaining to you in my answer before and wanted to confirm if this is what you wanted.

Here's the source code of your site right now, you'll see the iframe embed code.

Put this link on your web url bar:

view-source:http://www.kinderbargain.com/

Or right click on your browser while you are on your wordpress site and select View Source.

If you want to simply redirect your non-wordpress link to your wordpress site, go to your GoDaddy's Cpanel and configure it as shown in this link,

https://support.godaddy.com/he.....count

Amazon probably doesn't work with an iframe embedded website. They want their URLs to show on the browser url bar.

To confirm my suspicion that iframes does not work with Amazon affiliates, here's the link to the Affiliates TOS about framing (it's how they call it).

https://affiliate-program.amaz.....tion/

22. You will not frame the Amazon Site, or any part of it, within your site, including by display within an integrated web browser (e.g., WebView) within a Mobile Application. However, displaying a Special Link on your site, including results from the AMA API, in accordance with the Operating Agreement will not be considered a violation of this Participation Requirement.

So, you are left with redirecting your non-wordpress url to your wordpress url. See my previous answer to how to do this with Godaddy.

Problem SOLVED.

Ladies, thank you so much for all your help. You are amazing! Wow Smile

I have my domain name through GoDaddy. I changed something and it redirected without keeping the domain name. That solved the links problem. But I wanted to keep the domain name so I am playing around with the settings until I can get it right. Maybe I will call customer service at GoDaddy.

Redirection does not keep the domain name. It simply redirects your non-wordpress url to the wordpress url.
I understand why you would use iframes, but that breaks the TOS of Amazon Affiliates.

In order to keep your domain name with Wordpress.com, you will have to upgrade your services to a paid one.

https://en.support.wordpress.c.....main/

You can also host your own Wordpress.org site on Godaddy and create an ADDON domain for it. But that's another alternative.
