In Paris many "Blum/Goldenberg/Whatever's delicatessen" are not kosher either.

I saw in the Yated a few months ago an advertisement for Yiddish lessons for women and girls, with phone sessions available to those who live out of town. The number is 718-797-2216.
For teaching yourself Yiddish I have been using The Yiddish Teacher, which unlike most Yiddish textbooks does not use the YIVO spelling, which is controversial in the frum world. Eichlers and Judaica World, among others, sell it.
