I don't know anything about domestic travel for non-citizens -- but it is VERY important to check out everything BEFORE you travel. I can tell you from first hand knowledge that getting messed up with your immigration status can have very significant long-term repercussions that are not necessarily easy to fix -- or even fixable.
I have a close family member who works in immigration law who is constantly getting desperate calls from people who are in complicated situations that could have been easily avoided had they just paid better attention to the rules.
