Do you schedule when you wash your sheitel (every 4 months, for example) or do you just wash it when it looks dirty?

I wash it when it looks dirty. Some people say their sheitels start smelling dirty..and I haven't experienced that--but I guess if it started to smell at all, I would wash it ASAP. I've heard the more washes and sets, etc, the more damage. So if I can go a little longer without a wash, and extend the life of my sheitel, I'm happy.
