I hate to be anon for this, but I'm from BG and never got mm! I might suggest that its MORE important to go out there (really, Edens takes 12 mins. BTDT!) because no one else does! If I am the kids favorite teacher, let him come to me. No one else will!

Wow. This gets crazier and crazier.

There are people who actually spend purim driving to all their kids' teachers houses?? What a punishment.
And I can't see how this would be fun for the teacher either, who has to spend purim day at home as all her pupils come and go...entertaining them could take all day..what about hanging out with her own kids?

An intellectual profession doesn't get a tip, it's rude.
A normal waiter gets a couple coins. More for a full meal

Ok, here waiters get 15-20% tip usually. But I agree in principle.
A teacher is indeed an intellectual profession. You study, you receive a degree and diploma.
Would you tip a prof at university? Or your doctor? Or your lawyer?
This custom treats teachers like waiters.

Most teachers will set hours when students can come drop off. They don't want to be home all day hanging around, they have their own kids and/or their own mishloach Manos to deliver, or their own schedule.
