Lchaim or engagement party/vort?
Because for a lchaim you need wine/whiskey & a little cake but for a vort which sounds more like what you are asking about.
If its at supper hour then people rather hot dishes
Potatoe kugel
Potatoes
Lasagna
Chicken or mean
Potatoe salad
Cucumber salad
Nish nash salad
Cubed honeydew, pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe
Coke
Seltzer
Water
Cake, brownies, cookies, some candies chocolate.
We had ours supper time and the hot stuff went more than the cakes.

I saw in Costco they sell a box of horderves. I know they are Glatt.
They were a good price.

drinks like pina colada or kiwi drink.
salad: bag of Romain lettuce, container honey coated almonds, seeds of one pomegranate and once mango cubed. drizzle with bit of olive oil.
salad: one bag strawberry cut into quarters seeds of one pomegranate, 5 kiwis cubed can mandarins.
